About me
Arjen Karel
I am a Arjen, the PageSpeed and Core Web Vitals expert. I have a deep passion for new internet technologies that connect people together.
When the internet was limited by my dial-up model. I was fortunate enough to work at the Erasmus University and research human interaction on the internet. I realized even then that PageSpeed had a huge impact on the quality of the page.
Fast forward to today, while the web has evolved, my obsession with speed and website interactions has only grown stronger. PageSpeed was my early insight, and now it's my passion.
I have helped
Core Web Vitals experience
Hey, I’m Arjen, and I don’t just fix slow websites, I make them fly. I work with businesses of all sizes, from up-and-coming startups to established brands, and my mission is simple: optimize their Core Web Vitals and give them the speed boost they need to dominate. If your site isn’t performing, trust me. I'll find out why and fix it.
I’ve spent years mastering performance optimization, so I know how to tackle the issues dragging your site down. Whether it’s improving your Largest Contentful Paint (LCP), sorting out Cumulative Layout Shift (CLS), or speeding up Interaction to Next Paint (INP), I come armed with a deep understanding of how web performance impacts user experience and SEO. My work speaks for itself:fast sites, satisfied users, and higher search rankings.
What sets me apart? I am fast & accurate and effective. I don’t give up and I don't guess. I will come prepared and to the job done faster and more effectively then you would have thought possible.
I collaborate with in-house developers to implement the best solutions, making sure the fixes are scalable and sustainable. After I’m done, your team is equipped with the knowledge to keep your site running like a well-oiled machine.
When I am not working
First and foremost I am a father. I have 3 beautiful kids and a wonderful wife who I love more that anything in the world. About 4 times year I take my kids camping and give my wife time to herself. A win-win for all of us!
When you call me chances are, when I’m not optimizing websites, you can find me on a solo hike, preferably near the worlds edge, always pushing boundaries. Just like I do with every site I work on.
Speaking of hiking, I organize a few hikes each year for those ready to push themselves. Consider yourself invited and learn about nature, wildlife, bush craft and outdoor skills!
I have done
Core/Dash: Built for Speed
Core Web Vitals Tracking, Done Right.
I wasn’t impressed with the existing Core Web Vitals tracking tools—either they were overpriced, or they lacked precision. So, I built Core/Dash, a RUM (Real User Monitoring) tool that nails two things: affordability and accuracy. It’s the only RUM tool I trust for my clients because it delivers highly detailed breakdowns of Core Web Vitals, enabling me to fine-tune site performance with laser focus. And since I built it, you can bet it works the way I want!
Core Web Vitals Consultant
Page Speed Addict.
As a technical SEO consultant, I naturally gravitated towards page speed optimization. The more I worked with it, the more obsessed I became. Faster sites, better user experiences, and higher rankings—it’s the perfect trifecta. Since then, I’ve been helping businesses across industries speed up their sites and crush it in search rankings.
MarketingTracer: All-in-One SaaS Platform
The Pioneer of Web Quality Tools.
In 2004, I co-created the first set of tools to measure content and site quality. From there, we launched MarketingTracer, a platform designed to help web professionals improve SEO and user experience. With over 125,000 sites optimized under our belt, MarketingTracer is still the go-to tool for those serious about performance. It was during this time that I fully understood the immense value of technical SEO, UX, and page speed..

The Birth of Data-Driven SEO.
This is where it all began: building the first-ever tools to measure site content and quality. The insight gained from these early projects was the foundation for MarketingTracer. We helped over 125,000 websites improve their SEO and UX, and in the process, I sharpened my focus on page speed and Core Web Vitals.
Mod PageSpeed
Learning from the Best.
In 2002, I had the chance to collaborate with Google on their Mod PageSpeed module. While I can’t claim to have done most of the heavy lifting, the experience was invaluable, giving me a deep understanding of the mechanics behind PageSpeed and web performance.
Research at Erasmus University
The Early Days of UX.
Back when Windows 3.1 still ruled the world, I worked at Erasmus University, conducting research on web content quality and user interaction. This was the dawn of User Experience (UX) as we know it, and it’s where my love for cutting-edge tech and UX really began to take shape. We were pioneering concepts that would later define how users engage with websites.
My first website
Old School, Still Fast
I built my first website in 1995, during the days when we booted up Windows 3.1 from DOS. Fun fact? That site still gets around 3 million visitors per month and holds a PageSpeed score of 98. Not bad for something built before Google even existed, right?
